Idyllwild's Incredible Audible Art Tour

Idyllwild's Incredible Audible Art Tour

IDYLLWILD, CA, 4/6/09 – Enjoy music in the mountains this weekend as the Art Alliance of Idyllwild presents its annual Incredible Audible Art Tour, a yearly event in which Art Alliance galleries welcome guests with live musical entertainment in addition to fine, original art. This year’s event is set for Saturday, April 11, from noon until 5 pm.

Stroll the gallery route through the charming town of Idyllwild, located in the San Jacinto Mountains, a mile above the city of Palm Springs, and enjoy a destination that is one of Southern California’s best kept secrets. Each of the Art Alliance’s 15 member galleries offers a unique selection of exquisite art as well as refreshments and musical delights.

The annual Incredible Audible Art Tour is part of the AAI’s “Second Saturdays” series, which features a unique art event on the second Saturday of each month from March through October.

On the north end of town, Elena Kern, artist and owner of Four Corners Gallery, is proud to feature the works of three award winning artists: the richly-toned realist style of Ying Liu, the representational urban scenes and plein air landscapes of Duke Windsor and the diverse talent of Elizabeth Parsi. Their artistic designs will be paired with the poetic music of Idyllwild's own Gene Geno.

Down the street, guitarist Ernesto Ale will be our featured live musician at Two Babes in the Woods.

Head south to find CafĂ© Aroma, on North Circle, a one of a kind bistro/gallery that will showcase the talents of local artists, musicians and writers. Here, you’ll find a new collection of works by artist Lon Mercer and photographer John Simpson. “Portrait of Africa – Journey to Eden,” explores the beauty and power of Africa as inspired by the generous spirit of the people and the unparalleled earthly beauty of Tanzania. The two have voiced their experience in very different, yet complimentary media.

Artisans Gallery, in Oakwood Village, is honored to host Jamie Olsen, singing and playing a wide variety of folk/country music on her guitar from 1 – 4 pm. Jamie will bring some of her photographs, each of which is a personal _expression of nature images.

Drop by the Courtyard Gallery, behind the fort, and chat with local artists in this lively, creative gathering place. The Gallery is home to the internationally celebrated artists known as the "Group of Seven." The Courtyard Gallery is proud to host guest artist Jim Turpin, a celebrated painter from Palm Desert. Turpin’s mixed media canvasses include pieces of metal, which intensity the richness of his multilayered images.

In the Mile-Hi Plaza, Flying Pigment Studio Gallery owner Darcy Gerdes will display an eclectic assortment of work by local artists. Musician Sandii Castleberry, a talented guitarist, songwriter and vocalist, will perform jazz standards along with well-known tunes from the 40s through the 70s.

Next door, Florist in the Forest Gallery will display the work of Idyllwild artist Karin Headstrom, a former fashion illustrator who now works in watercolor, raku, clay and bronze.

Everitt’s Minerals and Gallery, in the Village Centre, will present two international musicians from the Idyllwild Arts Academy, Dorisiya Yosifova and David Ordovskiy. The pair will play arrangements for the violin and flute.

At Mountain Metals, 4 miles south of town on Highway 243, superb metal sculptor Dore Capitani will feature his new bride Trish Tuley. Dore will provide the musical “soundscapes” for the event, using a synthesizer.
