As a gallery, the Flying Pigment Studio takes special pride in showing local artists and musicians. This year , our musical talent for Audible Tour will feature folk, blues and bluegrass music . The musicians will preform outside on the street side deck at Flying Pigment Studio art gardens. You'll find benches, wine & refreshments to enjoy the audible sounds under the shady grand oaks. The studio is located in the Mile High Plaza on North Circle Drive.Stop in and Enjoy Idyllwild's favorite banjoist Ron Daigh along with musical pals Harry Joe Reynolds (guitar, harmonica & bass) from San Diego County, and songstress Kathleen Johnson (vocals and autoharp) of 29-Palms. HJ and Kathleen perform as the band: "The Folkin' A's" and have been performing together for over three years at festivals and special events throughout the Southland. They have been frequent musical visitors of Ron Daigh and Sandii Castleberry of Idyllwild and have played several local venues with them. Kathleen's deep, strong and rich voice compliments HJ's gutsy blues vocals and harmonica, and Ron's multi-styled banjo rounds out this fun, eclectic group.
The Flying Pigment Studio is an eclectic boutique style gallery. The artist /owner Darcy Gerdes' leap of faith about a year in half ago along with support from artists, family and friends has succeeded. The name of the studio came from the artists favorite quote "Art is a Pigment Of Your Imagination", plus the artists open edition print titled: "Pigasus When Pigs Fly"which the artist had to honor its hard work over the years that has supported her artistic endeavors..also as artist do, "most artists have to fling the paint around bout a bit to get their desired image" and then her occasional hobbie of jumping outta a perfectly good airplane in free fall at Lake Elsinore,CA..
The Studio features the works of Darcy Gerdes, original acrylic's, giclees & prints, Art Rocks by Kathleen Chaney, Dore Capitani's Metal Sculptures featured in the art gardens, Sherry Chaney's Hand-Painted cards & jewelry, Photographer, Carol Rice with local images of Idyllwild, Jan Jaspers-Fayer, Bronze sculpting & oils, Janet Johnson, Natural Baskets & Marcia Cox, Raku & Bronze... Musicians: Ron Boustead, Joey Latimer, Change Required & Sandii Castleberry's featured by their CD's which are normally played during studio hours.

Idyllwild's Incredible Audible Art Tour - Art, Music and Fresh Mountain Air
IDYLLWILD, CA, 3/25/08 – Spring is in the mountain air and, soon, the spirited sounds of live music will welcome visitors to the Art Alliance of Idyllwild's 2008 Incredible Audible Art Tour. The tour is an annual event in which AAI galleries welcome art lovers with a variety of entertaining musical acts in addition to fine selections of original art
This year's Incredible Audible Art Tour is scheduled for April 5, from 2-5 PM. It's part of AAI's "First Saturdays" series, which features a significant art event on the first Saturday of each month from March through October.
Part of AAI's mission is to support local artists and galleries and to expand Idyllwild's reputation as an emerging art town. Idyllwild was chosen as one of the "100 Best Art Towns in America," by author John Villani in his book by the same name.
The Quiet Creek Inn (www.quietcreekinn.com), a popular bed and breakfast establishment, is sponsoring the annual event, which is free to the public. Visitors may pick up a walking map at one of the 14 Art Alliance galleries or hop on the free shuttle for a ride through the gallery route.
At the Idyllwild Gallery of Fine Art, located in the Village Centre, finely crafted and unique jewelry is a state of mind. Lynn and Don Bodenberg, of Loveland, Ohio, are celebrating their 20th year of making fine jewelry as Da Vinci Silver. The couple works together as a team: Lynn, the designer, comes from a family of artists, weavers, sculptors, seamstresses, musicians, writers and painters. Don is the master silversmith.
In their "Reversibles Collection," each piece has two sides, so collectors can truly have two different looks in one. The Bodenbergs were the first to create reversible jewelry using mother of pearl, coral, paua shell and other gemstones. Da Vinci is known for its quality and innovative designs and bringing the best and most creative heirloom quality jewelry to galleries across the nation.
Also at Village Centre, the Willow Creek Gallery offers a new gallery shopping experience with its "Art and Gifts of the Wild." Stop by and see the thematic collections of affordable fine art. The "audible" entertainment in the Village Centre will be provided by DoRoJo, a dynamic acoustic trio made up of Don Reed, Robin Rabens and Joey Latimer. A familiar Idyllwild group, DoRoJo has a versatile repertoire popular with almost everyone. In addition to the group's eclectic original music, DoRoJo performs folk, country, pop, jazz, blues, jam-band, bluegrass and improvisational tunes.
When you drop by the Courtyard Gallery on Ridgeview Drive, opposite Oma's restaurant, you enter an alive, creative gathering place where you're likely to find an artist to chat with about his or her work. The tranquil, contemplative setting is home to the internationally celebrated artists known as the "Group of Seven." The group's photographers celebrate and honor the Earth in their works. Their potters use a large variety of unique glazing and firing techniques. Their painters work abstractly to explore all aspects of color, shape, form and thought.
The gallery will feature creations from artist Jim Turpin, a well-known painter from Palm Desert, whose heavily textured works reveal layer upon layer of color that appears and disappears into the unending voyage of the subconscious.
Musician John Bowman will take Courtyard visitors back to the era of "folk rock," as he strums and sings. As always, refreshments will be served.
Visitors at the Four Corners Fine Art Gallery, near the top of North Circle Drive, are in for a treat; a performance by celebrated Indie pop/rock musician Rie Sinclair is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Sinclair, a Emmy-nominated professional of 20 years, hails from the Hemet High School music program and has toured the world and recorded with groups that include The Plimsouls, Grammy Award winner Shelby Lynne, punk icon John Doe (of X), surf legend Dick Dale, Jill Sobule, Abandoned Pools and many others.
Artist and owner Elena Kern was AAI Artist of the Year in 2005 and 2006. Her art is strongly influenced by the work of early California plein air painter and family friend Granville Redmond and the gentle palette of watercolorist Percy Gray. Elena's love of her native California shines through in her oil landscapes.
See what local artists are up to at Artisans Gallery, in the Oakwood Village shops. Artisans Gallery features a wide variety of art including oil paintings, acrylics, watercolors, quilts, stone and wood sculptures and fused glass votives, all made by local artists. Among many new artists there is photographer Mac McCowan, who shows his "audible" side with a mesmerizing portrait of B.B. King. Cowan's subjects include slot canyons, London streets, the view from the St. Louis arch, and a woman in a field in Thailand.
McCowan uses CARBRO processing, one of the most beautiful printing processes in photography, noted for its outstanding separation of detail in the shadow areas of a print. His CARBRO murals are on permanent display at the Ellis Island Vision Center and he has photographs in permanent collections at the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Copenhagen as well as in private collections of His Royal Highness Prince Andrew, Edwin H. Land, Malcolm Forbes and President George W. Bush. He is also featured in this month's issue of Celebrity Society.
Next door, at Baker Galleries, don't miss the amazing woodturnings in many shapes and forms. Known for their exquisite wooden lamps and lampshades, Bakers Galleries also carries pottery, paintings, pine needle baskets, giclee prints, painted gourds, and jewelry. Be sure to check out George Baker's photographs. Most were taken locally.
Back by very popular demand, Oakwood Village is proud to have recorder music by Lois Sheppard and Friends, providing just the right tone and tempo for taking in the wonderful featured art.
