Look for Irene Corey painting in the early hours in the art garden of Flying Pigment Studio Gallery. She'll be painting Mary playing the keyboard under the trees in front of the gallery. Take a sit and enjoy the process as Irene completes a painting in front of your eyes. The gallery will be open and serve refreshments, coffee, tea.

Irene Corey artist statement

Though my subjects are diverse, my style is identifiable in all my paintings. I respect order in design as well as in nature. My shapes are usually bold and the colors clean.

I admire the works of various other artists but can only be true to my own nature and never try to imitate. If I work from a photo it is one I took myself, my own inspiration, subject and composition. I consider copying from any other work plagiarism.

My landscapes are intended to draw the viewer into the scene and experience the elements with all the senses.

In painting people I hope to arouse a curiosity as to who they are, their thoughts and experiences.

Even my organic still lifes may reveal something of the nature of another species.

I enjoy painting in oil but regret that I do not have the space or equipment to play in more experimental media.
