Irene Corey artist statement
http://www.irenecorey.com/

Though my subjects are diverse, my style is identifiable in all my paintings. I respect order in design as well as in nature. My shapes are usually bold and the colors clean.

I admire the works of various other artists but can only be true to my own nature and never try to imitate. If I work from a photo it is one I took myself, my own inspiration, subject and composition. I consider copying from any other work plagiarism.

My landscapes are intended to draw the viewer into the scene and experience the elements with all the senses.

In painting people I hope to arouse a curiosity as to who they are, their thoughts and experiences.

Even my organic still lifes may reveal something of the nature of another species.

I enjoy painting in oil but regret that I do not have the space or equipment to play in more experimental media.
